Kenya and Tanzania are not rivals so much as different readings of East Africa. Both offer extraordinary wildlife, superb guiding and access to the Great Migration. The useful question is not which is better, but which rhythm suits you.

Kenya is exceptionally good for variety in a compact journey. Amboseli brings elephants and Kilimanjaro; Laikipia adds conservation and rare northern species; private Mara conservancies allow walking, night drives and fewer vehicles. It also connects naturally with the Kenya coast.

Tanzania feels immense. The northern circuit moves through Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti with a sense of landscapes unfolding at scale. It is ideal if the safari itself is the centre of the trip, and Zanzibar makes the bush-to-beach finish effortless.

If time allows, combining both creates a richer story. If it does not, choose according to season, pace and the experiences you value most—not a generic top-ten list.
